Shibuya How to Get Yen: What Yen Buys and How Much You Need

Last updated:

What Yen buys in Roblox Shibuya [Beta]: ¥5,000 Gas Mask, ¥10,000 desert gate, ¥12K–¥40K techniques, and crafting unlocks from ¥600 to ¥60,000.

Quick answer

In Roblox Shibuya [Beta], Yen buys gear, area access and Cursed Techniques: Tomoe's Gas Mask costs ¥5,000, Jira's desert gate costs ¥10,000, Yuki Sato's techniques run ¥12,000–¥40,000, and crafting recipe unlocks range from ¥600 up to ¥60,000 depending on tier.

  • Gear: Gas Mask for ¥5,000 from Tomoe at the Subway
  • Access: the desert gate opens for ¥10,000 paid to Jira
  • Skills: Cursed Techniques cost ¥12,000 (Slicing Exorcism), ¥25,000 (Piercing Blood) or ¥40,000 (Supernovo) from Yuki Sato
  • Crafting: recipe unlock fees scale from ¥600–900 (Grade 4 armor) up to ¥60,000 (sand-tier recipe)
  • Every crafting recipe also needs material drops on top of its Yen fee

Yen is Shibuya [Beta]'s main spending currency, and nearly every meaningful purchase falls into one of three groups: gear sold by NPCs, one-off payments that open new ground, and the unlock fees that let you craft better equipment. Here is the full price list, so you can total up what your build will actually cost before you start saving. However you stockpile Yen, this page covers the spending side — documented earning methods aren't covered here yet.

What Yen buys: gear, gates and techniques

Tomoe's Gas Mask — ¥5,000. Inside the Subway, NPC Tomoe sells a Gas Mask for ¥5,000, and her dialog makes the stakes plain: "Wear it out there or don't come...".

Jira's desert gate — ¥10,000. The gate to the desert area opens for ¥10,000, and Jira's own line sets the terms: "¥10,000 once and I crank it open." Pay him and the desert is yours to enter.

Yuki Sato's Cursed Techniques — ¥12,000 to ¥40,000. The biggest skill purchases in the game come from Yuki Sato. Choose "Teach me my technique." in her dialog and she shows her price list:

TechniquePrice
Piercing Blood¥25,000
Slicing Exorcism¥12,000
Supernovo¥40,000

Slicing Exorcism is the cheapest way in at ¥12,000, while Supernovo tops the list at ¥40,000. The list also offers a fourth option, "Not now." For how techniques unlock and which ones are worth chasing, see our guide to how to get cursed techniques and the cursed technique tier list.

Crafting unlock fees by tier

Crafting is where Yen bills stack fastest. Every equipment recipe charges a Yen unlock fee that scales with its tier, and each armor tier pairs the fee with a sorcerer-grade requirement — Grade 4, Grade 2, Grade 1 and then Special Grade as you climb.

Crafting recipe unlock fees by tier

Crafting recipe unlock fees by tier
Recipe tierYen unlock feeNotes
Grade 4 armor¥600–900Starter tier; also lists a Grade 4 requirement
Grade 2 tier¥2,400–3,200Grade 2 requirement; element-specific pieces also need the matching technique user
Grade 1 tier¥5,500–7,000Grade 1 requirement
Special Grade¥14,000–20,000Special Grade requirement
Folding recipe¥5,000Adds Fold Bonus effects, covered in the fold bonuses guide below
Sand-tier recipe¥60,000The priciest recipe unlock listed

Three things to budget beyond the fee itself:

  • Materials. Yen only unlocks the recipe — crafting the item still costs its material drops on top. Our how to get crafting materials walkthrough covers where each drop comes from.
  • A matching technique user. Some element-specific pieces also require the matching technique user — Flame, Ice, Lightning, Light, Cursed Speech, Straw Doll, Projection and Moon Dregs are among the listed ones.
  • Beta prices. Shibuya is in beta, so these fees can move between updates — re-check them before saving toward a big unlock.

For the complete recipe-by-recipe list with stats, the Shibuya crafting guide covers every entry, and the sorcerer grades page explains the rank ladder those grade requirements refer to. Folding sits alongside the armor ladder — one listed folding recipe costs ¥5,000, and the Fold Bonus effects it applies are detailed in our weapon fold bonuses guide.

Delivery to the HQ Lab pays Merit, and Black Net delivery pays Sin

Not every reward in Shibuya runs through Yen. Contain a curse, bring the specimen to HQ and take Agent Hoshino's "I've got a specimen for you" dialog option: deliver it to the HQ Lab and it earns Merit, or take it to the Black Net and it earns Sin. Delivery to the HQ Lab pays Merit, and Black Net delivery pays Sin. Our curse containment guide covers the containment loop itself.

How much Yen do you actually need?

Read the price list as budget targets:

  • Early crafting: ¥600–900 unlocks your first Grade 4 armor recipe, and ¥2,400–3,200 moves you into Grade 2-tier pieces.
  • Gear and access: ¥5,000 for Tomoe's Gas Mask plus ¥10,000 for Jira's desert gate — ¥15,000 covers both together.
  • Skills: your first Cursed Technique costs ¥12,000–¥40,000 depending on the pick.
  • Late unlocks: ¥14,000–20,000 per Special Grade item, ¥5,000 for the folding recipe and ¥60,000 for the sand-tier recipe.

Put together, around ¥27,000 is a realistic first big target — Tomoe's Gas Mask, Jira's desert gate and the cheapest technique — with the Special Grade pieces and the sand-tier recipe standing as separate, larger savings goals.
