Shibuya [Beta] Race Tier List: Best Race Perks for Your Build
Which Shibuya [Beta] race perks suit technique damage, survival and utility builds, every tier's roll chance, and when spending a reroll is worth it.
Most Shibuya [Beta] builds want one of three things from a race: more Cursed Technique damage, better survival, or extra utility for playing alongside others. The perks on offer map onto those goals cleanly, and once you know the roll chances behind each tier, the reroll question mostly answers itself.
Quick answer
Incarnated Sorcerer fits technique damage builds (+10% Cursed Technique DMG and a free technique skill before the Trial), Death Painting leads for survival and party utility, and Mutated Corpse suits non-technique damage and mobility. Reroll when you rolled a Common race and your build needs a perk only a higher tier supplies — the clearest case is a technique build hunting Incarnated Sorcerer.
- Technique damage: Incarnated Sorcerer (Rare, 7% roll chance)
- Survival: Death Painting (Mythic, 2%), or Human and Cursed Spirit (Common, 87%) as simpler defensive starts
- Utility: Brotherhood wall-sense for Guild and Party play; Panda forms and Overcharge Tubes for mobility and punishing attackers
- Rerolls: picked up in the customisation menu via Codes or Robux

Race tiers and roll chances
Every new campaign opens in the character builder, where you take a chance with RNG to roll favourable stats and secure a better head start than your server-wide peers. Your race comes out of that roll, and the odds stack heavily toward the bottom of the tier list: Mythic races sit at 2%, Legendary at 4%, Rare at 7%, and Common races take the remaining 87%. In practice, most rolls land Common.
Data table
| Race | Tier | Roll chance | Key perks | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Death Painting | Mythic | 2% (tier) | Brotherhood (sense friendly Death Paintings in your Guild or Party through walls), Rot (toxic blood may burst onto opponents who try to apply bleed), Cursed Reinforcement (defensive stack that absorbs hits and reduces DMG), Blood Throw (close-range attack); Blue Demon Variant adds Demon Shift at Grade 2 | Survival and party play |
| Mutated Corpse | Legendary | 4% (tier) | Panda big form: x2 Side +40% Non-Technique Damage, take 15% less damage, 8% slower; Panda small form: half size, 15% quicker; Tubes variant: Overcharge instead of Switch Types, Tubes glow in your Cursed Energy colour and explode when hit | Non-technique damage, mobility, hit punishment |
| Incarnated Sorcerer | Rare | 7% (tier) | Innate +10% Cursed Technique DMG and a free Cursed Technique Skill before completing the Trial | Technique damage |
| Cursed Spirit | Common | 87% (tier, combined with Human) | Passive Cursed Reinforcement: a defensive stack that absorbs hits and reduces DMG | Simple defensive start |
| Human | Common | 87% (tier, combined with Cursed Spirit) | Innate +10% HP buffer: tank more hits before falling | Simple defensive start |
The tiers also play differently, not just roll differently. Both Common races have fairly similar perks, which makes them fairly interchangeable — and, as the guide puts it, unreliably weak as primary choices. Rare races are only one step up from Common on the list, yet their roll rate is dramatically lower, and their skills are niche and situational: a comfortable roll, but not an untouchable one. Legendary races have a lot to offer in long-term play, which is why most players settle there rather than gamble on climbing higher. Mythic is the peak of the ladder, and Death Painting is the only race in it.
Best race perks for technique damage builds
Incarnated Sorcerer is the technique-damage race. It grants an innate +10% more Cursed Technique DMG, and it also hands you a free Cursed Technique Skill before you complete the Trial — the Trial being how you attain a Cursed Technique, obtained through Yuki once you are Grade 2 or higher. For a technique build, that means bonus damage and a working technique from the very start, before the normal unlock path is finished. Our guide on how to get cursed techniques covers the Trial in detail.
No other race on this tier list boosts Cursed Technique damage. Mutated Corpse's big Panda form raises Non-Technique Damage instead — the other side of your damage output — so a technique-focused player who rolled Common has the clearest case for spending a reroll.
Best race perks for survival builds
Death Painting carries the deepest defensive kit on this list. Its Cursed Reinforcement passive — the same defensive stack the Common Cursed Spirit gets — absorbs hits and reduces DMG. On top of that, Rot punishes bleed attempts: when an opponent tries to apply bleed to you, toxic blood may burst onto them as retaliation. Blood Throw adds a close-range offensive option, rolling blood into your fist and hurling it at a target, and the Blue Demon Variant gains a Demon Shift once you reach Grade 2.
Cursed Spirit is the simple version of that plan: a single Cursed Reinforcement passive that absorbs hits and reduces DMG. Human swaps the stack for an innate +10% HP buffer, letting you tank more hits from opponents before falling. The two Common perks are fairly interchangeable, so either works as a defensive starter — just not a powerhouse.
Mutated Corpse defends differently: in its big Panda form you take 15% less damage while gaining x2 Side +40% Non-Technique Damage, at the cost of moving 8% slower.
Best race perks for utility and party play
Brotherhood, Death Painting's first passive, is the standout utility perk for organised play: you sense friendly Death Paintings in the same Guild or Party through walls, so you can find your fellow Death Paintings even when a wall sits between you.
Mutated Corpse covers mobility and punishment. The small Panda form makes you half the size and 15% quicker, while the Tubes variant swaps the Switch Types skill for Overcharge: the Tubes glow in your Cursed Energy colour, and when they are hit, they explode and splash enemies, damaging them. Anyone striking a Tubes player triggers the burst themselves.
How the tiers rank overall
If you want a single name, the guide that documents these perks ranks Death Painting first: it is the only Mythic race, the rarest to roll, and it carries the most valuable passives and active skills in its set, with some skills overlapping those of lesser races. Keep in mind this is the guide's editorial judgment based on ability value — not a measured result — and rarity alone is not treated as power. Death Painting is on top for what its kit does, not merely for its 2% chance.
Below the top spot, the list is about fit more than a strict ladder. Legendary Mutated Corpse gives damage-focused builds concrete numbers to grow with in long-term play, Rare Incarnated Sorcerer answers one specific need exceptionally well, and the Common races are playable starters whose perks barely differ from each other. Match the race to the build first; the tier label matters less than whether the perks do anything your build actually wants.
When is a reroll worth using?
Your race is settled by the character-builder roll at the start of each campaign, and Rerolls are how you take another shot at it. With Common covering 87% of the roll space, most first rolls land at the bottom tier — and whether that matters depends entirely on your build.
Decision guide
Getting more Rerolls is straightforward: while in the customisation menu, you can redeem Codes to get more Rerolls or buy more using Robux. Our Codes page maintains the live list, and the reroll guide walks through the whole process.
One structural point works in your favour: with Common as the floor of the tier list, the real cost of a reroll is the Rerolls themselves.
The takeaway
Pick by build, not by rarity label. Incarnated Sorcerer if your damage lives in Cursed Techniques, Death Painting if you want the strongest survival and party kit, Mutated Corpse if you fight with non-technique damage or value mobility and hit punishment, and either Common race if a simple defensive start is enough. Reroll when the perk your build needs sits above your current tier — a Common roll on a technique build is the clearest case of all.
