Shibuya Best Starter Armor: Which Grade 4 Piece to Craft First

Last updated:

Which Grade 4 starter armor should you craft first in Roblox Shibuya [Beta]? The five pieces compared by confirmed stats, recipes and unlock costs, plus a pick for each playstyle.

For your first armor craft in Roblox Shibuya [Beta], the Padded Gakuran is the sensible pick. It is the cheapest of the five Grade 4 pieces to unlock — 600 Yen plus Grade 4 rank — and the only one that improves two defensive stats at once: DMG Reduction +2% and Maximum HP +3%. That combination makes it a solid defensive base while you work out where your build is heading.

Each of the other four pieces serves a narrower goal, so if you already know your playstyle, one of these may suit you better than the cheapest option:

  • Scale Vest — the highest pure damage reduction of the five (+3% DMG Reduction), but also the most expensive unlock at 900 Yen.
  • Field Haori — the mobility pick, with Speed +3% and 1.5% DMG Reduction for 750 Yen.
  • Sporecap Hood — the strongest cursed energy boost: Maximum CE +3% and CE Regen +6% for 800 Yen.
  • Drone-Silk Wrap — a cursed energy and speed hybrid: CE Regen +4% and Speed +2% for 850 Yen.

All five Grade 4 pieces: unlock costs, recipes and stats

Every Grade 4 entry in the armor crafting menu lists two sets of requirements: an unlock cost, paid in Yen while holding Grade 4 rank, and the materials consumed to craft the piece. The unlock costs run from 600 to 900 Yen depending on the piece. Here is the complete documented list, ordered from cheapest unlock to most expensive:

Data table

Data table
PieceUnlock costCrafting materialsStats
Padded Gakuran600 Yen + Grade 43x Mummy Wraps, 2x Mushroom CapsDMG Reduction +2%, Maximum HP +3%
Field Haori750 Yen + Grade 43x Fly Wings, 2x Mummy WrapsDMG Reduction +1.5%, Speed +3%
Sporecap Hood800 Yen + Grade 42x Drone Wings, 3x Mushroom CapsMaximum CE +3%, CE Regen +6%
Drone-Silk Wrap850 Yen + Grade 42x Fly Wings, 4x Drone WingsCE Regen +4%, Speed +2%
Scale Vest900 Yen + Grade 42x Fly Wings, 4x Mushroom CapsDMG Reduction +3%

Two patterns in that table are worth noticing before you spend anything. First, only the Padded Gakuran, Field Haori and Scale Vest list any damage reduction — the Sporecap Hood and Drone-Silk Wrap put every documented stat boost into cursed energy and speed, with no defensive stat at all. Second, within the defensive group the Scale Vest has the highest pure damage reduction documented for Grade 4 at +3%, ahead of the Padded Gakuran at +2% and the Field Haori at +1.5%.

Which Grade 4 armor fits your build

The confirmed stats sort the five pieces into three goals: survivability, mobility and cursed energy. Take the branch that matches how you want to play:

Decision guide

Choose for your situation

You want to take less damage and stay alive longer

The Scale Vest has the highest damage reduction at +3% DMG Reduction. If you would rather keep 300 Yen and add a bigger health pool, the Padded Gakuran gives +2% DMG Reduction plus +3% Maximum HP instead.

You want to move faster

The Field Haori is the mobility piece, with Speed +3% plus 1.5% DMG Reduction on top. The Drone-Silk Wrap adds a more modest Speed +2% and pairs it with cursed energy regen.

You want more cursed energy

The Sporecap Hood is the stronger cursed energy pick, raising Maximum CE by 3% and CE Regen by 6% — the biggest regen boost of the five. The Drone-Silk Wrap is the alternative at CE Regen +4%, with a small Speed +2% attached.

None of these picks is a mistake — the documented stats and costs simply favor different playstyles, so let your build decide rather than the price tag alone.

Materials and Yen to plan for

Every recipe also consumes materials, exactly two types per piece, and the recipes overlap heavily. Fly Wings appear in three of them (Field Haori, Scale Vest and Drone-Silk Wrap), and Mushroom Caps appear in three as well (Padded Gakuran, Scale Vest and Sporecap Hood). Mummy Wraps are shared by the Padded Gakuran and Field Haori, while Drone Wings are used by the Sporecap Hood and Drone-Silk Wrap.

That overlap is worth using when you plan what to farm: gathering Fly Wings for a Field Haori also feeds the Scale Vest and Drone-Silk Wrap recipes, since both use Fly Wings too. For where each material comes from, see how to get crafting materials, and for the Yen side of the unlock fee, see how to get Yen.

Where Grade 4 sits in Shibuya armor crafting

Grade 4 is not the only armor you can craft in Shibuya — the game also offers Grade 1, Grade 2 and Special Grade armor. The five pieces on this page are the entry options tied to Grade 4 rank, so they are the set you choose from when you first reach that rank.

When you are ready to look past starter gear, the Shibuya armor overview covers every craftable tier and the Special Grade armor page focuses on the top-end pieces. If the rank itself is what you are working toward, the sorcerer grades guide explains how grades work, and the progression guide follows the path from a fresh character upward.
