Shibuya Armor Talents: Bulwark, Last Stand and Curse Ward

Last updated:

What the Bulwark, Last Stand and Curse Ward armor talents do in Shibuya [Beta], which craftable armor pieces grant each one, and each piece's stats and crafting materials.

Quick answer

Bulwark reduces the Posture damage you take: Centipede Carapace lists 15% less Posture DMG and King's Lacquered Armor lists 20%. Last Stand, on Bone Lattice Plate, cuts all damage you take by 12% while your HP is below 30%. Curse Ward, on Oni Horn Mail and Bearer's Vestments, cuts damage taken from Cursed Spirits by 12%.

  • Bulwark: Centipede Carapace (15% less Posture DMG) and King's Lacquered Armor (20% less Posture DMG)
  • Last Stand: Bone Lattice Plate (12% less DMG while your HP is below 30%)
  • Curse Ward: Oni Horn Mail and Bearer's Vestments (12% less DMG from Cursed Spirits)

Craftable armor in Shibuya [Beta] can carry a named talent line on top of its stat bonuses, and three of those names — Bulwark, Last Stand and Curse Ward — mark defensive effects. They are not interchangeable: each protects against a different thing, and two of the three only apply under a specific condition. This page lists the craftable armor pieces whose documented crafting recipes name one of these talents, with what the talent line does, the stats each piece adds and the materials it costs, so you can compare them before spending anything.

Bulwark: less Posture damage

Bulwark reduces the Posture damage you take. Its talent line names Posture DMG specifically, so unlike Last Stand or Curse Ward it does not reduce every kind of damage — only Posture DMG, as written.

Two documented craftable pieces carry it, at different values. Centipede Carapace lists 15% less Posture DMG, adds DMG Reduction +5.5% and Speed +3%, and costs 3x Centipede Plating and 2x Crawler Eyeballs. King's Lacquered Armor lists the stronger Bulwark at 20% less Posture DMG, adds DMG Reduction +8% and Maximum HP +8%, and costs 1x King's Tsuba, 1x Cleaver Shard and 2x Centipede Plating. The two recipes share Centipede Plating, and King's Lacquered Armor is the only one of the pair that also asks for King's Tsuba and Cleaver Shard. If Bulwark is what you want, King's Lacquered Armor is the stronger listed version; Centipede Carapace is the alternative for players who also want Speed, which it alone grants of the two.

Last Stand: protection below 30% HP

Among the documented crafting recipes, Bone Lattice Plate is the piece that lists Last Stand. The talent line reads: when your HP is below 30%, you take 12% less DMG. The condition carries the value — the reduction is not active while you are healthy. It only applies once you have dropped below 30% of your HP, which makes it a safety net for the dangerous end of a fight rather than constant protection.

Last Stand also differs from Bulwark in scope: it reduces DMG generally, not Posture DMG specifically, and its trigger is your HP level rather than the type of hit coming in. The piece itself adds DMG Reduction +6% and Maximum HP +8%, and its recipe asks for 4x Skeleton Arms, 2x Hardened Sand Fists and 2x Brute Teeth.

Curse Ward: less damage from Cursed Spirits

Curse Ward narrows by enemy type instead of by damage type or HP: it reduces damage taken from Cursed Spirits by 12%, and the talent line does not claim to reduce damage from anything else.

Oni Horn Mail and Bearer's Vestments both list it in the documented entries, which match in every listed respect. Oni Horn Mail and Bearer's Vestments both carry the same Curse Ward line, the same stat line of CE Regen +10% and Maximum HP +12%, and the same recipe: 4x Skeleton Arms, 2x Centipede Playing and 1x Cleaver Shard. The item name Centipede Playing is reproduced exactly as printed in the recipe listing. Between the talent pieces, this pair is also the only one whose stats raise CE Regen rather than DMG Reduction or Speed, which matters if your build leans heavily on cursed energy.

The same effects without a talent name

Bulwark, Last Stand and Curse Ward are name labels, and two other craftable pieces in the recipes list the same effect types without one. Brute Hide Vest lists a bare "Take 10% less Posture DMG" line alongside DMG Reduction +4% and Maximum HP +6%, and Hugger Stitchwork lists "Take 8% less DMG from Cursed Spirits" alongside Maximum HP +8%.

Set beside the named versions, the unnamed lines come out lower: 10% versus Bulwark's 15% and 20%, and 8% versus Curse Ward's 12%. The named talents are the stronger listed versions of the same two effects, so if you are choosing pieces by these lines, the name labels mark the better end.

Decision guide

Choose for your situation

You want the biggest cut to Posture damage

Craft King's Lacquered Armor. Its Bulwark line lists 20% less Posture DMG, versus 15% on Centipede Carapace.

You want protection once a fight has already gone badly

Craft Bone Lattice Plate. Last Stand reduces all DMG by 12% while your HP is below 30%.

Cursed Spirits are the threat you care about

Craft Oni Horn Mail or Bearer's Vestments. Both list Curse Ward at 12% less DMG from Cursed Spirits, with identical stats and materials.

Stocking the materials

The recipes on this page use a short list of items — Centipede Plating, Crawler Eyeballs, Skeleton Arms, Hardened Sand Fists, Brute Teeth, King's Tsuba and Cleaver Shard, plus the item printed as Centipede Playing in the Curse Ward recipes. Two materials repeat across crafts: Skeleton Arms appear in both Bone Lattice Plate and the two Curse Ward pieces, and Centipede Plating feeds both Bulwark recipes, so stocking those two serves several crafts at once. The how to get crafting materials page covers where each item comes from, and the Shibuya crafting guide explains crafting itself.
